Time

Based on everything I’ve blogged so far, I think one thing that stands out is time: time taken to declutter, time taken to figure out the things that we love doing in our spare time, time to nourish ourselves, time to think, reflect, pause, time to set the intention of a space, time to make our house a home.

So how do we get this time? Unfortunately, we have to make it. A big part of creating is making the time to do so, and not only be in the right frame of mind, but also to be intentional or focused on it.

I’ll give you an example. For the simple task of making what I call my “power smoothie”(kale, strawberry, blueberry, beetroot, walnuts and almonds), I have to make the time to 1) get the ingredients for it, 2) portion and package them if that helps when I’m in a rush, and 3) make it. But do I feel awesome after I drink it. I absolutely love that smoothie!

It goes without saying that perhaps, in life, we must make time for the things that matter. But as my behavioural change consultant once said, making time for what’s important…is this important in my life?

I’ve personally found that switching off my phone or silencing it for a bit helps me focus on things I need to. For the people who say, “I need my phone with me 24/7,”,it is not new for me to reply what many have said before, and which has even been scientifically proven: It is unhealthy to look at your phone immediately after waking up or before going to bed.

So how intentional are we going to be while doing the things we need to? What shifts are we going to make? Are we going to make the time? Time to do the things we need to—and do so intentionally—especially in our case, as we are speaking about decluttering our homes and offices.

You can start with one cupboard today, one drawer tomorrow and one box next week, and with my guidance work at your own pace.  Book your session today, and let’s declutter your home and office.
